amp gauge
I just replaced my Alternator in my 2001 SS, It fixed my flickering lights but I still notice that the amp gauge is most of the time below 13 and sometime just above the red is this normal? I just have a factory radio CD.

1. Did you make sure the connection on top of the alternator is good?
2. Is it the stock alternator? If so the voltage should pretty much stay up around 14.5 since the regulators were not very sensitive and akin to a dummy guage. Aftermarket alternators, you'll see a LOt more deviation.

amp gauge
I did check with my meter. That;s the readings I get from the battery post. 12V when the car is off and around mid 13 and to 14. Should I check somewhere's else?

lights dimming at all? does the gauge drop when you turn on the ac or brake or radio?
if it just drops randomly id go for the gauge....otherwise you can check the main wires coming from the battery...to the fuses and starter....my starter wire was jacked once, made my alternator go crazy, fry a battery and blow up a wire

On my 96 sixer she reads around 18 unless I have the ac on, then it is around 14, and for fun i can get it around 8 if I turn on everything like wipers, ac, radio(aftermarket), rear defogger and all the lights including the interior...lol.
