I've removed mine and did almost next to nothing. I ported my MAF and that's when you have to start worrying about air/fuel. Even then you most likely won't get an SES code for that.

Oh and I forgot, the C5 ZO6 vette's do NOT have a MAF screen!

Peace,
Craig.

I bought ported MAF end with no screen and been running them since 2000 with no problems. If your tuner can't accomadate a desceened MAF, I'd be kinda worried...

Just leave it....you aren't gonna gain much more by removing it and you risk damaging the MAF wires

use a m-80, that will do the trick!

I took mine off a long time ago, no problems since.

When i did take it off there was just a few small pieces of debris, nothing big though.

I just used my dremel and cut a half circle around the edge of the screen, then i popped it out, took me maybe 5 minutes.

Damn good point right there. If your tuner has issues with that, then you should go somewhere else for a tune!

It is not that hard at all to remove the screen.

I know boss, I understand what you're saying. But you could also get struck by lightning or hit by a bus while your working on your car. lol You can't just think "what-if's" all the time.

Let me ask you this, have you ever removed a MAF screen before?
*I'm not trying to rag on you, or jump your **** so don't take offense please.

But its so easy Ray Charles, or any blind man could do it.
....or

"Its so easy a caveman could do it!" lol

Peace,
Craig.

Yeah I did my buddies because he was too scared to (he doesn't know **** about cars) and I agree it isn't hard to do but for the gain you would get I say just leave it alone. You're not gonna gain 10 hp from it or anything.

P.S. We're all good man, I didn't take offense to anything.

I dont think he is specifically looking for any gain of HP but more air intake.

Cool, good deal!

I agree that you will not see 10hp from it. But it does help, more so with my 427ci which pushes ALOT of air and that screen only slows it down.

And for those guys thinking it needs to be there to "straighten" out the air flow.....BS.
What happens when that "straightened" air hits that 30 degree (or so) bend and/or acordian (or smooth) happens????

= TURBULENCE

....and I'll mention this again. If its not good then why in the hell did GM make a C5 ZO6 without them???

Peace,
Craig.

Not picking on ya WZUP1000, but if you have that much debris going to your MAF, then your airlid needs to be sealed better. Mine's been fine for 3 years+ and put a ton of highway miles on mine. Never a problem for me atleast. Again no harm intended and not talking crap, just looking out ya know.
