Default Mysterious Switch

Ive had this 00 camaro z28 for about half a year now and there is this switch on the side of the driver dash hidden under, no its not a kill switch cause that one is directly under the dash and his hidden further away from plain view. But I have noticed when I flip the switch up after driving around in the car for about 5 minutes the service engine light comes on what could this mysterious switch be?

Thats a strange switch indeed. Just do like is suggested here, follow the wires and see where they go, and report back to us.

I've heard of people hiding switches for electric cut outs. possibility previous owner had an electric cut out and pulled off the cut out when he sold it.

I dont think thats the case since its causing and SES issue. Also an e-cutout switch is a momentary type switch, and this is a toggle switch.

well this is sorta off the wall, but i have heard of people splicing into the o2 sensors and inducing more voltage to change the a/f ratio. There really is no accurate way to control the voltage to the sensors by hand though (and the fact that the car can be tuned for whatever a/f you want, and dont forget thats why there are input sensors to the PCM/ECM) There was some bullshit kit i saw somewhere a while back that was talking about it... whatever the case is, get rid of it. sounds kinda "rigged" to me... but thats going on what i am reading

If it's a mini-toggle i'd go with a valet/kill switch that was disabled before the sale to you.

Only way to know for sure is to follow the wires.

i'm leaning toward the above.

although....i once bought a 94 with a mystery switch under the dash. Turned out it was for neon lights. look for mysterious zip ties under your car during your next oil change.

What about a switch that kills the tail light? I've heard of a few running something like that for when they ditch the cops.
