Default New SS

Okay, I just want to know what you guy's think I should do. I am looking into buying a 2001 Blk on Blk SS with 4000 miles on it, the seller wants $24,000 for it but it seem he might be coming down to $20,500. I have a 99 Z28 with 68,000 miles on it and don't know it I should go with the SS or keep the Z28... I figure I will ask all of you, seeing as you get this kind of questions all the time.. Pls understand that the out come of this thread will play a major roll in my decision... Thanks to all that reply.

Do you plan on modding the new car? It only has 4000 miles on it and for the price, Id wait until the new Camaro comes out. Im considering selling my 98 Formula for the G8 GXP when it comes out. I want something a little more practical as a DD and my 90 Firebird has the track covered(much more fun IMO)

Yes I will be modding the new car. It will be following the same build plan as the z28, the only thing that would be different is the new car will be a SS and alot less miles. As for the new Camaro I like the car, but I like the fourth gen more.

I say go with the SS if you can talk him down under 20k, not being biased, its just alot more car for a decent price IMO.

okay this might help. The SS is blk on blk, it is also a m6. I am talking to the seller and we are in $20500 to $22000 range. I have wanted a black SS with t-tops for a while but when I could not find one for about a year, I got my Z28, which has had 4 other owners before me.... thanks carfax... the SS is on this 2nd owner and and I think if I put out the offer of $21250.00 the seller might take it. I just want to know what others think before I make a dumb move. Thanks

If you can get him to your price (around $21k???) I would go for it because that SS has ridiculously low mileage. I could NEVER find an SS in my area w/ mileage even in that neighborhood. I also agree w/ you that I like the 4th gen SS cars better than the new ones. Just my .02.

Logic dictates that you stay with the z28 and you'll have plenty of money for mods.

When you're talking cars tho, sometimes logic goes out the window. If you've always wanted an SS and this is your chance, then spend the money and get what you really want.

The only downside of the car is age. Even though it only has 4k miles, you're still looking at 20k for a 6-7 year old car. If you were a collector I think the purchase would make more sense because it's hard to find one in that condition. Intending on modding the car makes me think you're better off keeping the Z.

I can tell by the fact that you would rather have a 4th gen than the new Camaro that you are in it for keeps. I say take the SS. In the long run (witch it seems you are in for), the SS is cleaner im sure, and lower mileage, and if you add up the fact it took you a year to find her...Buy it and dont look back. I think the Camaro SS looks awsome, and if I were in your shoes, and planned to stay 4th gen a long time..I would go with the SS for longevity and overall appeal. That car will just become more and more impressive as these things go downhill over time.

I have made an offer of 20,500 for it, he wants to work somewhere around 20,500 and 22,000 so I was thinking if he does not go for the 20,500 that maybe 21,250 this way I go up by 750 and he comes down by 750. If not then I guess just mod the hell out of the Z28 and not look back. Thank you all for your advice.

Well here the new word. The seller will keep in contact with me about the SS intill I get home from this deployment, which should be the frist week of Aug, not to long I hope. If the car does not sell by then he will take my offer of $21,250. I will have to hold off on the major mods if I buy the SS, but that should only be a year or two delay.
