Question Lowering an SS...

I have a 99 ss camaro (read Mods below). with the few mods that I have, how much can I lower the car and not have to worry a whole lot about scrapping the ground over bumps and such? also how much should the springs cost and what brand?

thanks in advance!
joe

P.S. I also don't wanna loose any, or much, of my traction abilities. will i need LCA relocation brackets after this too?

I can't speak about other brands of springs, but with my Hotchkis springs the front air dam scrapes, and custom y-pipe scraped. I had to have the pipe redone.

You just gotta be careful and take it slow, hit speed bumps at angles, etc. Definitely make sure your y-pipe is tucked up to provide clearance, but not so much it bangs on the floor board.

Hotchkis says 1" but I think its a little more. I'm not sure though since the car came with the springs.

i lowered mine with eibach prokit springs and got shocks from sam strano . . . it all lowered my car more than an inch! i don't scrape my SLP y-pipe, but the LM resonator scrapes over all speed bumbs. like they said though, you'll have to go over speed bumps at angles regardless. trust me, your car will look better!

I have the Eibach Sportline kit on my 99 SS with pacesetter longtubes and it scrapes all the time. So dont get the sportlines, but my buddy has the Eibach prokit on his and it never scrapes.

Angry Mines

a Pain in the REAR!! I should have left it alone. it rides like a brick and forget putting anybody in the back. Gave my orignal springs away. Wish I had kept because I would have put them back in.

Or you should have read the suspension stickies, you would have seen that you need the proper shocks to match your springs...

Call Sam Strano like I already posted. Your going to want either Konis(best) or revalved bilstiens from stranoparts. Bilstien HDs wont be able to handle those springs as well as the other two.

Sorry, thats not the answer, cheapest does NOT equil best. Would you buy one of those electric superchargers off of EBAY opposed to a real one because of how cheap it is? Shocks are arguably the single most important suspension component on a car, they dampen the springs and give control. Go to stranoparts.com, and to "shocks", pick up either the revalves or the konis, otherwise your wasting your money, trust me.
