You'll gain peak horsepower with a cutout, yes. If you have a good catback, you'll probably run a lower ET with the cutout open due to a loss of torque.

I ran 2 tenths slower on my ET by opening my cutout I have a Corsa catback. I also lost 1 mpg and it's a lot more sluggish down low. The corsa with stock manifolds and cats is just too quiet for me so I leave my cutout open all the time. We'll see what it's like with headers.

FWIW, I removed my Borla adjustable catback today (in 100 degree weather) and re-installed my stock SS catback. It sounds great with the longtubes and ORY IMO, and car feels much more responsive at lower rpms. It still has an ever so slight bit of raspyness, but is very slight and NO COMPARISON to the Borla. My car sounds like a car again...and not a pickup truck.

Borla's for sale BTW...$400 + shipping

you people are crazy to spend that kind of money for an exhaust system that sounds like total crap just so you can gain 3 - 5 rwhp. I would rather have the better sounding flowmaster setup any day.
