Default Limitations of 98 PCM

So I've read that the 98 year model PCMs are less capable than the later year models. Why is this? And what can be done to overcome these limitations?

Yes you are correct, they are very limited.

First you cant do any real time tuning with a 98 PCM, IMO this is a big limitation.

Second, you cant run any of the awesome custom operating systems that EFI LIve provides for example.

If you are only going to do basic mods IE boltons, then a good tuner can work with your 98 PCM

If you plan to go into the motor IE heads/cam i highly suggest you swap in the newer PCM, it can be done and its not that hard if you have a knowledgable tuner using EFI Live only.

PM me if youd like details on the swap, ive done it and i think its 100% the best mod ive done to my car.

You could keep the PCM you got and get a newer operating system instead.

No you cannot, the 98 PCM will not work with any newer operating system
