i was a C4 owner before i got the 98 lsx camaro.. and i thougth it was great, when i changed over to the camaro i was realy pleased with getting backseats agen.. an i was kinda surprised when i started driving a c5 vette most days along with my camaro that.. the camaro just did not got any worse.. those cars just has such a diffirent character,
the c5 looks awesome, grips like few others an got real good seats, realy fun car, but only 2 seats,
the ws6 is a modern muscle car i.m.o, brutal and big.. old school handling and feele,
cant go wrong with eather, just what are looking for?

Trans Am hands down. C5's are a dime a dozen. Every other middle aged guy going through a midlife crisis has a C5. Don't get me wrong, I like Corvettes, but C5's don't do as much for me as an f-body. Now C6's...I like them A LOT more, but I'd take my Formy any day over a similar Corvette.

I just went through this. I sold my 2000 WS6 about 6 months ago to buy a C5. It was a tough decision. Now since I have a C5 I can't believe I waited so long to make the switch. They are both great cars I just think the C5 does everything a little better!

I would say Trans Am, car for car they are close. drivers race sometimes, they are lighter, but the TA is just a great looking car. For every Trans Am I see, I see about 15 C5's or more. Corvettes do attract more pun, but Chicks also know guys with TA's are bad ***. Besides the point. Get what you would be happier with.

I've had the following:
1987 IROC-Z 305 Automatic (Yellow&Black)
1991 Mustang GT (never again)
1997 Anniversary Z-28 Automatic
1999 C5vert - A4 (Pewter)
2001 WS6 - M6 (Pewter)
2002 CETA-WS6 - M6 (Obvious)
That's 4 f-bodies and one C5. Also, 3 out of 5 were LS1's. What a great engine. But, I digress.
I sold the C5 because is wasn't stick, and I needed to free up cash flow. Also, I love yellow cars. I would never have sold the C5 if it were stick, yellow, and money were no object. The C5 had better interior, suspension, brakes, and even gas mileage, just to mention a few. Don't get me wrong, I love my CETA, and will probably never get rid of it. I will probably just add a Vette to my collection when I can afford to. Of course as other have said, the WS6 does have two more seats, and is meaner looking. But, there is something about being able to say you drive a "Vette". What a great name.
Let's face it, there are lots of WS6's, and lot's of C5's. Once you mod whatever you have, it's original and different than all others. So get what you like and can afford, and make it your own. To me, the 2002 CETA was the yellow M6 that my Vette was not, and was a lot cheaper. That's why I ordered it, waited 4 months for it, and have only put 11K miles on in 5 years.

Around where i live (Virginia) I see WAY more C5's than Trans Ams driving around. Corvettes are really nice, its just that everybody seems to have one now. The Vette is more expensive than the T/A, so I would look for a nice WS6 T/A and spend the difference on a few mods!!

For T/A
1) You see fewer of them vs. Vette
2) Almost as fast in the straight line
3) Cheaper repairs and mods
For Vette
1) You get the name
2) Lighter and better handling
3) People w/ little car knowledge thinks a vette will blow the doors off a T/A.

Hard choice. They're both my favorite cars look wise from GM.The WS6 just looks mean and straight to the point. The C5 is pure sex on wheels.
I had the same decision when I bought my WS6.I really like the C5(non ZO6),but I always wanted the car I bought too.
How I came to my choice was this-I see alot more C5's than the WS6.I found alot more C5's that were low mileage and well kept.Hence made me think that they're still going to be around later when I have the money and room for one beside my current car.The 2002 ws6's that I was looking at were getting harder to find with low mileage(5k and under).Seems to me alot of older people who buy the C5,buy them for their retirement and such, and don't drive them as often.
Plus I don't really care about trying to keep up with the neighbors or what people think.I wanted what I wanted, and deep inside I knew it was the WS6.But I will buy a C5 later on though, just not getting rid of my WS6 either.

If I was u id go with the c5 its alot faster and lighter then an f body and u dont have to worry about people in the back seat jamming their knees into your back while u r driving, ever since i giot my c5 its been alot different experience from my firebird.
