C5 or Trans Am?
#45
If I had the money I'd go with an M6 Vette for sure. Around where I live F-bods are a dime a dozen and the only people who drive C-5's are old guys who put maybe 1000 miles a year on them. and mister hand had it right with the HUD,

I have both a nasty 2000 Z28 and a stock 2004 Z06/Z16. They are completely different cars that put a smile on my face for different reasons. If you want a world-class sportscar, get the C5. If you want a white-knuckle boulevard brawler, get the T/A.

Well I used to own a 94 TA GT M6 and I sold it for my 92 C4 vette A4
Even tho these are both LT1's I must say that the vette feels way better!
Also my dad has a 2001 C5 and when I get to take that thing out... its AWESOME! completely different feel. I have 2 friends with LS1 camaros and a friend with a 02 Z06. If money is not an option go with the vette.
The only reason I would buy an F-body for my next car over another vette, would be to go with a STS rear mount turbo. Because it would be way cheaper in the long run on an F body.

i sold my '96 Z28 for my Vette And although my Z28 wasn't a LS1 i still LOVED that car. But to the point, i wouldn't trade my C5 for ANY other domestic except a C5/C6 Z06 or buying an '03/'04 Cobra and that'd be my other toy. I'd say go with a C5. You WILL NOT regret it...~Cole~

An LS1 Trans Am WS6, hands down, even by today's standards the LS1 WS6 package still looks up to date with 2007, and its what from 1999? Look at any other car from 1999, Dodge Stratus, Grand Am, Ford Taurus.
GM was way ahead of its time with the LS1 F-bodies.
The C5 is still great looking, but its aging, and the C6 models only accelerate its aging, where as the LS1 Trans Am was the last of its kind (for now, we'll see what 2011 brings)

Damn son, try 2002 they stopped being produced. How did you not know that? but I'm with this guy.
The Trans Am is supposed to be the low cost corvette alternative and thats exactly what it is. I still wouldn't trade my trans am for a C5, because for 1. it's the same damn engine. I'm willing to sacrifice handling for a car that costs a lot less and still is tons of fun. I mean the C5 interior is still plastic and looks about the same to me, I've been in a c5 and it's nicer than the f-body, but it's not THAT much better. Take the money you save and build your trans am. Now that's tight.
I personally wouldn't want to get rid of the f-body for less than a C6.. And damn I see A LOT of c5's and c6's on the road. Not so much f-bodies. Basically I'd just rather be driving a last of the breed trans am than a C5. Now, a Z06 on the other hand..... yeah it's a Z06, cant go wrong there
But either way, I cant lie, vette > f-body.
