the newer slp lids are a new molding. You need to do a little bit of modding to them unfortunately. after that, mine fits unbelievably tight. Very nice.

I heard that the "revised" version doesn't fit as well.

I vote to get the volant. I have a lid but like you say, the volant looks badass. I paid a thousand so my wheels and tires would look better. My wife couldn't tell the difference but to me, it was a thou well spent. What's another hundred for such a cool looking intake when that hood is up.

I have a "revised" SLP lid and it fits perfectly... Re: the above post about the SSRA and wet filters? I have an SSRA and there is no issue with wet filters. Don't use your ride as a boat and you will have zero problems. Oh yeah, been lurking for some time. First post!

When I finally saw a picture of the Volant, it reached out and said "feed me". It has that menacing and voracious black hole look. It reminds me of one of those deep ocean fish with giant teeth and a little lamp dangling out front to lure in the prey.

Turns out it was SLP's bellow that made it all not fit well...I trimmed 1/8" off the MAF side of the bellow and now everything fits perfect. I like the stainless scoop underneath as well...that thing fits really nicely and with the foam weatherstripping tape seals the hot engine bay air away from the filter nicely. It's definitely getting outside temp air to the filter now.

I have the volant. Looks good, but my only bitch is it doesn't support the radiator very well. I had to use some Zip ties to help hold it in place.

Sent an email to Volant about it -- they never replied (thanks!).

If I hadn't gotten it cheap (<$200), I'd have went with the clear lid....

I would get the Volant and give it a try. I have a friend with the K&N FIPK and I might try a back to back Dyno comparison with my lid and the FIPK.
