If anything I would say an '01 or '02 for the LS6 intake.

I dont see anything wrong with either. If I had some extra cash I would get an LS1 just cause I'm kinda bored with my LT1, but if I sell it I won't get as nice of a car as I have already sooo.

It is that bad!

The only people that still like the LT1 are the people who own one. And those people just can't afford an LS1.

they are both good platforms, ive had both and i can say that the ls1 is a far superior design and performer right out of the box. however the lt1 can be bought for much less money(usally half the price of an ls1) so if you are on a budget look for a nice lt1 if not then def. go with the ls1, both have great aftermarket support to make them go fast.

Glad to get the input guys. Really did not mean to get people at each others necks but I guess that's what passion will create.
I am still looking at BOTH platforms and will post what I ultimately decide. Thanks again!

Well they have aftermarket optisparks now so its not really that bad. Surely you werent talking about replacing a continuously failing part with the same part

There's no aftermarket opti-**** that can even begin to compare with the stock LS1 coil on plug though.

Correct.

Its called Delteq, but it still runs off the optical sensor in the optispark.

There really is no way to get rid of the opti unless you have means to go with a crank trigger and crab style dist.

Tony.

O and in stock form an ls1 can take mach1's, 2002 and below cobras, any gt ever made, 350z, G35, Sti, and others that an lt1 would need mods to beat. So an ls1 is starting out ahead of the majority of performance cars but the lt1 now is in the middle of the performance cars.

I had both and definately perfer the LS1 for it's driveability. It has been bulletproof unlike my LT1. But both are fast and capable of 13's and trap over 100 mph out of the box. You can't really go wrong with both if they are well taken care of.
