I have a 99 and raced 3-5 02s when stock and beat them all. They are so close that the driver mod does the rest. I love them all!

My wife's '02 (when both our cars were stock) was a little faster than my '99. I'd buy a 01-02 over a 98-98.

I think the knock sensors were an early '98 issue. I have a March '98 built car, and mine holds good timing all the way though a WOT run with the stock knock sensors.
yeah I know there aint much difference even in the 241 heads i was bein sarcastic......the casting was a little smoother on the newer heads but the port design and size was the same....once ported they all flow the same....correct me if im wrong.....

mine had the old style ksensors had baad kr.....it was a 11/97 build date though......these guys will ask why not to by a car and when you tell them they are just as good the newer year owners get all but hurt over there e pride or somthing....

Well several reason through this thread have been mentioned that hold true, and some were the reasons I shyed away from 98's when I was looking. Not really because they were less of a car, but because there was those few little things that if it came to it down the road, I didnt want to deal with.

IE: the 98 block, the heads/valve covers being specific to each other.

Ya I know, but if you have 98 valve cover and coil packs, they wont bolt up to the head.

Uhh.. the coil packs are all the same, you just need a $15 bracket and the valve covers.

Ya I guess I didnt say that right. Well its an issue I havent dealt with in years, and at the time, it was a bigger issue than it probably is now. The brackets and valve covers were pretty much impossible to find separate 6 years ago.
