Just got a 99Z28, seafoam at 87k?
Traded my 93 in for it. Its got 87k miles on it... was wondering if I should seafoam it or not? I highly doubt it has ever been before. But it looks like it has been very well taken care of. So what are the chances of fouling plugs, clogging the fuel filter, or otherwise damaging the car with this many miles assuming its never been seafoamed before and may have quite a bit of buildup in there?? Also, I have never seafoamed a car before. Yes I have seen the write up. Asking for opinions on doing this to a stock car without knowing any history of it. I have seen guys seafoam their cars at high mileage for the first time... but generally it had been their car for quite some time and they knew how it had been maintained.

I doubt it NEEDs it, but doesn't mean it isn't good for it. And I dunno how it was treated before I bought it, so why not clean it out as long as it won't hurt it?? Under normal use, no matter the oil used, a car with 80k+ miles is going to have some carbon buildup.
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't risking the car or more maintenance than its worth doing it. Seems so far most think it will be perfectly fine, so I may do it here in the next month or two. Just changed the oil... so really don't wanna waste the money doing another right now. Wait a few months and seafoam it before.

Edit: bout the nitrous, no. haha. Nitrous would be the absolute last thing I will do to the car. I'm just one of those guys that like to be able to say "all motor" when I do something instead of only being able to go fast as long as I have a bottle. Once its as fast as I can get it on motor alone, then maybe. Even then... probably go FI.
Thanks for the comments tho... for those of you who actually posted something worth while that is, instead of something like the N2O or "do it for fun" comments.

I used GM top end cleaner on my 2000 (through the brake booster hose...it's better than seafoam in my opinion) at 87K when I bought it. It seemed to help the car out a lot. I didn't bother pouring it into the fuel tank, I don't think thats as necessary at all. I did change the fuel filter and PCV the same day. The car I bought is very very clean/well maintained...but I think it was also pretty much barely ever above 10% throttle...it coughed out a few gigantic clouds of crap when I ran the stuff through it...and since then does run better. I think I'm going to run another can through it this weekend and then replace the plugs and maybe the O2 sensors.

Not to hijac the thread, but I'm gunna try to this here soon and was sure about somethign. The sticky doesn't seem to be clear about it. When you seafoam your oil does it need to be rigth after you changed the oil? Or do you just put it in whenever and change the oil within 250 miles?

i did mine at 84k and it made NO smoke. i guess mine was pretty clean. The fuel mileage went up and hesitation did go away though. i would recommend replacing your fuel filter after that tank of gas has run out. like mine, it was probably original. the fuel that came out was nasty brown.
