Tell your "pal" he is a riceboyz' riceboy. You could also mention to him that he is a brainwashed, sheeple/lemming import worshipper, but that might be going too far?

Here is one thread on this site; https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-lsx-automobile-discussion/781168-has-your-ls1-been-reliable.html

Search should bring up MANY more.

Let your friend know that I will be able to break his "industructable, infallible, Nippon epitome of perfection"<-- for him. Just in case he really believes it is "all that".

your friend from Japan is a stupid ****, Ls1 cars are reliable, you can beat the crap out of them, daily drive them and still have a very reliable car. i mean what other car can you buy that are pretty quick out of the box, look good, have a descent price, and get 25 mpg on the highway

My friend has an S2000 and I have anally raped him many times in my bolt on 99 Cobra. That coupled with the axles that he has broken from redline launches tells me that your buddy is nuts.

You won't even be able to count the number of cars on here that are modded and over 100k without any major engine troubles. I'm over 100k on a heads/cam/intake car and I've changed my brakes a couple times, and I change the oil. I changed the clutch once.

And a stock LS1 would walk all over a honda S2K like it was standing still.

and here's another thing to look at.

gen 3's (ls1's) are the oldest of these engines, right? 97-04. That's now 11 years old for the oldest ones!

now.. go look at how many posts there are in the gen 3 internal and external forums, asking about mods. now.. go look at the section for general maintenance.. notice how many fewer posts there are there? that should say something about how reliable these are.

you also have to ask yourself why is GM basing EVERY engine they are producing off the LS series? because they are effecient, powerful, and reliable!

It does well based on what? Racing a Mustang? Im not impressed with it. So an s2000 runs what? 14.1 with an awesome pass? We can have some pretty bad runs and still stay in the 13 second zone.

And FYI, my car has a 196k on it, and Im pretty well within 12's....11's are coming soon!

As stated, it would butcher it in a straight line. With NOT too much of an investment of suspension parts/tires, it could also smoke the Honduh in their "twisties" as well!!! (On all but the tightest autocross/go kart tracks, that is.)
This is something that riceboyzz just cannot accept/understand, as well as some on here, sadly enough.

Do a favor for your friend.....Don't let him forget those words! Then after you beat the crap out of his S2000 race after race for years to come and even take your ls1 to the track every month, while he babies his honda....3 years from now bring up what he said and he will eat those words! Your Hillbilly car will still be running like a raped ape and murdering everything on the street with no major issues what so ever! The LS1 was the turing point for reliability for Chevy! You will never have to worry about the S2K...
