Default installing cam

I'm in the process of installing a new comp cam and it does'nt have a dowl in it. should it have one? do I need to take it out of the old one? how do I get it out? help please my cars all torn apart.

make sure you line the holes up, dowel hole and cam gear hole for dowel. As long as they do, you should be fine. Just remember.... DOT 2 DOT

1st timer doing this by yourself?? Read up on the cam section I think it's a sticky under the gen III internal section. This will help A LOT. I know it did in my case.

Check out www.installuniversity.com or www.ls1howto.com and go the cam and heads install area, they got good info as well.
