Default Headers are in!!

Ok, I have both headers in!! Once I got the car up a little higher it just slid right in. It was easier than the drivers side. I went to put the Y-pipe in and the damn thing is to long! So I have to pull the Y-pipe back out and cut about an 1/2 inch off of it. Which I will do tomarrow. I am waiting on a O2 extension for the drivers side. They forgot to ship one of them!! Go figure!! Once I cut the Y-pipe, it should slide right in and I can clamp it up. Can't wait to get it in and drive it. Then my converter should be in next week!! I ran a 13.6 @ 104MPH with a 60 ft of 2.1. What do you all think I should run with the headers and converter. I also changed my MAF meter because the guy that had the car before me descreened to stock one. I replaced it with the SLP 85mm.

I used his write up when I installed mine. There is only one thing he left off, "re-install the dipstick". I was in such a hurry to fire my car up, I left out this common sense step, and I forgot to put the stupid dipstick back in. Talk about feeling dumb. I fire it up and it runs fine but I couldn't figure out where all this blue smoke was coming from LOL. One quart later...I realize how much of an idiot I am. Oh well, I had 6 qrts of oil and a filter sitting in the garage so I figured now was as good a time as any to change the oil... So there is my bonehead move of the century. So just remember to re-install the dipstick haha.

The SLP MAF has some resistors that skew your numbers and report the wrong incoming air to the computer. It'll help you lean out the stock tune a little bit, but it's not good if you're getting your car tuned. You can either take the resistors off and use the 85mm truck tables, which are pretty accurate, or you can buy a stock screened MAF (in which case, the 75mm Holden tables are more accurate than the F-body ones). I've got a stock MAF if you want to buy it, but I'd just take the resistors off the SLP one. Search around, it's on LS1Tech somewhere.

Just my 2c though, plenty of people run them.

Headers and exhaust are now in after a little fabbing!! I do have a tune on the car. But the SLP cannot be hurting me more than the stock one desreened was hurting me? The car was pinging after 4500 RPM and the computer started taking timeing out. So I was already losing HP. After I get my converter installed and the cam in next week I am going to get a Dyno tune!! So I hope this will help.

I cannot. The stock MAF was descreened when I got the car. It was causing the car to lean out after 4500 RPM which made the computer retard the timing to prevent the engine from pinging. This is the only reason I replaced it.

the stock descreened MAF was not causing that! it is something else to do with the MAF not the descreening of it!
