Default Header Install!!

I am going to try and install my Hooker Lt's and y-pipe this weekend. I never even seen this done before. How hard is it to do? Has anyone done there own set of Hookers and can give any advice? I've heard that the Hookers fit really well. Is there anything I have to move? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

look around in the GEN III External Engine Forum, there seems to be at least 2-3 posts for header installs a day...

Not hard to do. Do yourself a favor and the night before use penetrating oil on the y pipe bolts and clamps. You might need to move your starter. Taking your coil packs off helps.

debateable. The higher the better is the motto. You could build platforms for your stands if it isnt high enough. 2x4's nailed together stacked is good as well

Ok. Here it is. I got the stock manifolds and Y-pipe out. I have the drivers side header bolted in but I do not have the car high enough to get the passenger side in. Does anyone know if it can be put in from the top?

In from the top is hard, and I don't know if it's even possible with Longtubes.

You need to get the car high, as stated above.

I installed my Jet-Hot longtubes from the bottom on jack stands. Many other people have as well. You just have to get the front end high enough to put the headers darn near vertical when you first slide them up. I even lifted the rear of the car a little bit in order to help get the front higher.

Make sure the stands are secure before getting under the car.

I went and bought some jack stands meant for suv's. They jack up pretty high and it was enough to install my headers without having to support them with anything to make them higher.

I didn't read through the whole post, but make sure you get yourself some new gaskets.

You shouldn't need new gaskets.

One of the few reusable gaskets. They are metal. Most people re-use them and I havn't personally heard of any problems yet.
