I bought my 99 z28 convertable about two months ago...my tranny already took a crap on me but im buying a built 4l60e with a 3500 stall converter and the only other mod i have is a hypertech tuner. Ill have 1k$ to spend on mods and im trying to see what is the best hp setup i can get for it. Any suggestions would help. thanks

why ditch the tuner? im not very familiar with how much they actually help but the prob is im stationed in germany and theres nothing else or no one else to tune it depending on how far my mods go.

Hypertech's aren't good at all. Considering your situation.. there are still better options, a mail order tune from a place like Wait4me or something like that will be a lot better than Hypertech.

w/ 1k to spend, and i dunno it s probly gonna be a lil more expensive overseas id imagine
if you got the tranny w/ a stall id get gears ( 3.73's ), sfc's,lca's, lid, do the free mods.
id say you should be able to shop 2 n have $ left over.
w/ the stall the gears and lid are gonna make it a whole new car!

To answer your question on the mail order tune. You'll have to send your PCM off and they send it back, or if you are concerned about down time you could buy a spare to send off. Either way it will be better than the Hypertech and maybe cheaper. Depending on how much you sell yours for.
