Question question on cams/pushrods

Ok i have a pretty good understanding on internal engines and i thought about putting a cam in my car...id have to pull the motor to do so but with an aftermarket cam pretty much its opening the vavles higher.....but with the pushrod setup...couldnt i just get longer pushrods and it pretty much do the same thing? i dont know if they even make longer pushrods for ls1's but im just curious if they do and if it would be pretty much the same thing?

Alright, start by reading this
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/327734-cam-guide.html

with a longer pushrod the valve would alway be slightly open and you wouldnt have any combustion chamber pressure. the camshaft tells when to open the valve and how long to keep them open, cam lift affects more what you were talking about

Why would you have to pull the engine to put in a cam?

for the same reason that having longer pushrods has the same effect as a bigger camshaft

Haha exactly, who needs compression? It would be a killer FI setup though, imagine how much boost you could run with a 0:1 compression ratio! 10000000000000 PSI on 87 octane for the win!

Haha sorry about that! I cant tell you though how many times ive caught myself dying laughing in my office and everyone is looking at me like im on drugs. Something about laughing while working for a inance company (Fidelity) as a financial analyst while the market is tanking isnt a good idea I guess haha.
