Yeah, only he didn't tell you that he wasted every other run going down the track because he would break the back tires loose.

Nitto's are junk. They're 315's belong on a 9" wheel, they're 275's belong on a 7" wheel, etc. The tread width is not even close to what it should be for their sizing. If you're on a tight budget, Nitto's could work. If not, don't waste your time. I've been there, done that, and will never go back. I had trouble getting the 315 555r's to hook with a cam & bolt-on LS1. Then I went to some real tires. The tires used in this pic are M/T 275/60/15 drag radials.

The nittos worked well for me when I was at 450rwhp and below. But if you have more hp I would recommend BFG's or above all, M/T drag radials!

My friend with a C5 bought Nittos but he accidentally got the autocross tires that have a harder sidewall and he said the only difference is one number so just make sure you order the right stuff. lol

Nittos worked for me until I got a stall. After the stall I would spin to about half track. so I switched to BFG and now run 1.6 60 ft.

If on a stock rear end Id go with the nittos. This is how I see it MTs will hook harder but nittos will be more forgiving and help parts last.

I have ran all three and rank them like this, 1. Mickey Thompson, hands down. 2. Nitto 3. BFG.

Mickey Thompson's are GREAT for traction and wear decently compared to the BFG's. I run these in a 275/50R15 on some 15x10 Prostars. I will soon be upgrading to some 325/50R15's.

Nitto's are great all around. They get great traction compared to regular street tires, handle awesome in the rain, and last quite a long time on a DD. I run these in a 315/35R17 on some 17x10.5 TT M's for daily duty. When just messin around on the street they hook very decently. I had BFG KD's on the car and it would spin them almost through 3rd. Put on the Nitto's and they spun at the top of 1st and a little on the 1-2 shift but after that they grabbed good. This was at 403 RWHP with 4.10's.

BFG's in my opinion are junk. I had them in a 255/50R16 and a 275/50R15 and both didn't hook and tread life was horrible.

Like I said I run the Nitto's for DD and they work good for the unexpected races I run into driving around town. Now, when I know I am going to be racing and know things are going to be serious, the Prostars with MT's get the call.

For a track only car, I agree with you. But for a DD and occassional foray to the track, Nittos are tough to beat for the price. I'd like to see you get 27,000 miles out of a set of M/Ts which is what I currently have on these Nittos so far.

What prices are you guys paying for Nittos?

I used to run 275/15 Nitto DR's on my old mustang coupe with 350/480 and the Nittos hooked damn good on the street with all of the torque is was making!

There are a lot of 'street' tires out there better than Nitto's drag radial, they may have better tread life, but only because they are a harder compound and don't stick, and they suck in the rain.
What i think is stupid, is when people get on here and try to make everything a ****** pissin contest. If you couldnt 60ft better on a wider tire of the same type, then you obviously you have a driver mod issue. I think most people that run nitto dr's on a dd usually have no intention on running them at the track, serious drag racers should have a spare set of mickeys.

#1. He wanted opinions on Nittos...I gave him mine.

#2. You think I have a problem driving???? Are you ******* stupid? Mr. 'shootin for 11's'? And they weren't the same tire dumbass. The 315 was a 555r, the 275 was a regular 555. You should wait to run your mouth until you can cut some 1.40 60' times out of an LS1 with stock heads, stock guts, and a stock bottom end. Then you can talk. Until then, do us a favor and keep your mouth shut. Driver mod? Please.

lots of info on the nitto's!! but i wanted to ask you for a street car that never sees track, would the nittos be my best bet? i do plan on going with some 18 inch z06 though. plus i plan on doing h/c/ and stall.. so i think my best bet is nittos atleast. i wanted to try and run some toyos or something along those lines. but i dont know if they will hook as good as some drag radials.

i've ran all 3 tires nittos, bfg's, et street drag radials, and also have ran et street slicks. The et street slicks are by far the best but hit rain and well its intresting to say the least. I currently have nittos on my car figured i'd give them a try but would never run them again. They are a tiny bit better then street tires but not much. I had good results with both bfg's and et street drag radials. Both tires you cant go wrong. Bfg's will last longer the the et streets dr but less then the nittos. You can run either in the rain but just have to be careful. I felt the bfg's wroked better with a stick car then the et streets, just had better results(could have just been prep cause on the days i went cause it wasnt much .03-.04 in 60') The et street slicks however loved them, i've heard that et street drag radials dont liek the shock of a 5 speed launch and well my results were a little better but not by much

Believe it man, I got the tires when the car had 45,000 miles, car currently has just broken the 72,000 mark. I need a new set bad since the driver's side psi went down too low and wore down alot faster than the passenger side. I used them in the rain about 3 weeks ago and don't recommend it in a stick car, with the auto, at least it slips some and didn't hit as hard as a manual would. A new set will go on at the end of December God willing

I'd deff rock Nittos for a DD tire but I hated them at the track and love my MTs there.

I just bought a set of Nitto DR's 305/35/18 and I had the nitto regular 555's before. The street tire was a great tire BUT the drag radials made a night and day difference. I added LCA relo's at the same time. I am really surprised at how they handle in the corners too! I recommend the Nitto's for a street tire all day long. Hooked in the rain too!

When I researched Nittos every thread I read said they are good for 6-12K miles depending on how many burnouts you do.

My old friends from Illinois used to get similair mileage from them (8-10K). For a street car that doesn't do any burnouts I could see 15-18K maybe but probably wouldn't feel safe with them in the rain past 10K.

27K is not realistic for anyone to expect. If you poll 100 Nitto users then odds are 90 got less then 10K and the remaining 10 got less then 15K miles. Like I said, I'm not going to call you a liar. But I will say that you are the exception and NOT the rule.

I have 17x11" rims on the back. So I've always ran drag radials. As Zeus previously stated Nittos are fine for stock cars. But anybody making anykind of power isn't gonna be able to hook up with them. The best 60 ft. time I ever got off them was a 1.67 and that was when they were almost on their last run before replacement. I'm now trying out the BFGs which hook up better than the Nittos but they are also wider. Both are 315/35/17s but the BFGs DRs were scrubbing the inner fender welds until I broke out the hammer. MTs DRs are on the menu next since after several years of waiting they finally came out with a 315/35/17 which should prove to be the heat. And by the way anybody that can get 27,000 miles out of a set of Nittos must be pulling their car around on a rollback. I bet it gets good milage too!
