Question about chip
Hello all I just bought a 2000 Trans Am recently and I am looking to get a little more power out of it. I have a lid, k&n filter, all of those free mods and a flowmaster muffler. Now I am wanting to buy a chip to increase performance. Is there any chip that you guys would recomend and if so what is the price for the one you recomend and were can you find it.

A dyno tune by a knowledgable tuner will net you the best results and the most options to tuning. Expect anywhere between $300-500 for a few pulls and tune. They can also tweek your shift points, firm up shift(autos),raise rev limiter, get rid of top speed limiter, adjust for wheel/tire sizes, calibrate speedo, smooth air fuel ratio, adjust timing, etc.....Power gain from a tune varies, I've seen anywhere from 10rwhp bone stock up to 35rwhp bone stock on 4th gens, and with mods, it's anyone's guess.

Leave the rev limiter alone, it doesn't need to be adjusted.

But to the OP, get rid of that Flowmaster and free up some power.

yeah you have to buy a programmer, which for the money you might as well tune it. But honestly a tune on a stock car is not worth the money. Once you free up the exhaust and intake a tune could help more. Just depends on what you have planned for the car. If your going to leave it stock for a couple years then yeah a tune would be a good investment. But if your going to modify it at all in the near future, wait on the tune and spend that saved money on the mods.

If you're trying to go CHEAP - a HPP3 will do, and you'll notice the difference. If you want the best, get a dyno tune from a reputable shop. A shop will charge about $500 for the initial tune and $100 for re-tunes.
Again, you can buy a handheld programmer for cheap if you want temporary gains
