Above poster got it covered.
The FRC C5 'vettes come standard with the Z51 suspension (I think its better springs, swaybars, and tires.)
Here is an article comparing all the C5's:

It also depends on what you want to pay... You can get a nice SS or WS6 for under 15k or right around there... A nice vette is going to cost 20k and up... I previously owned a 03 cobra myself and miss the car alot.. Only sold it for financial reasons and I plan to get another one again... Now I have also owned a WS6 and Now have an SS... If I could choose between the 2.. I personally like the WS6. The hood is just Mean!

Thats about what mine looks like, but without the painted rims. After driving/owning a vette, the F-body and mustang feel like a wagon.

There is nothing wrong with owning a stang and a f-body,find a higher milage ls1 car for cheap and mod,cut and go fast.Didnt want to tear up my low milage SS to much with too many mods and racing so I bought a stang to tear up at the track. The ls1 has so much potential with little work to make a lot of power..

Z06 hands down. I would be awsome having an 03 Cobra and a Z06!! Between the SS and the WS6, whichever one you like the most. Same ****, just different looks.

You sound like you want to do a bunch of modding. Do yourself a favor and don't waste money on a WS6/SS/Z06 when you are just going to take out the crap that makes it a higher model. Get a lower model like a TransAm/Formula/Z28/etc. They have the same drivetrains/engines, you aren't going to be missing anything but you should love the lower pricetag.

like said above the camaro is lighter but most people like the looks of both but prefer the TA more. I would reccomend an 01 or 02 because you get a better intake and heads. then a cam swap would go further without spending more money or extra work changing other parts. jm2c

Just get a GTO. Cheaper than the vette. 400 HP and the nicest interior ever made.

Ditto. I have a Formula, I love it. If you like the sleeper look, that's the way to go, everyone thinks they're V6's.

If you're building a drag car, I say go for a GN or Turbo Regal, if you can find a nice one. Those cars are beasts at the track without much work. I remember reading an article in GM high Tech Performance where they put one in the 11's for about a grand. Lots of potential there, and a nice big engine bay to work in.

The Vette would make a great cruiser or auto-x car though. I definitely agree the FRC would be the way to go with a Vette. But for the extra dough spent on a Vette, you could do a lot of modding to a GN or F-Body. And the thing with the Vette is it's more "upper class", which means that along with image and owner demographic, parts are more expensive for the most part.

You probably do, but in case you don't know, the Z28 also has the same LS1 engine in it.

Other than that it depends what you want to use it for. For example, I like being able to drive mine to my hockey games, which works out because the back seat of my f-body fits my huge hockey bag nicely. Not sure if you could do that with a vette. The vettes handle better though and have better aerodynamics from what I've read.

They also made regular regals with the 3.8 turbo V6. They came in all kinds of colors, options included, velour pillow topped bench seat, column shift, and a padded vinyl roof. Although most of the turbo regals had the t-type package(mag rims, buckets with console shift, blacked out trim, metal roof, choice of paint and interior color).

Avoid cars with t-tops or a sunroof, they weaken an already weak body structure and leak.
Hey you mean auto on the column right? It wasn't manual on the tree was it? That would be cool...huh huh...yeah

Nope, no manual trans was ever offered in any of the turbo regals.

The WS6 definitely weighs more. I believe it is 50 or 60 lbs. or more.

As to which is a better car, it is a proven fact that the Camaro SS is the best car ever produced. Many have said it, and even more have proved it. It is not even up for debate.

Yeah, I would say get what you can afford and figure out what you like!

Any LS-series motor car car is great which doesn't help very much. My vote is for a 03-04 Z06 or a 01-02 WS6. The WS6 is just drop dead gorgeous IMHO. Unless you can spring for a 06 or newer Z06. Or a ZR-1 for that matter, lol. A simple cam swap means the world in any of the LS motors.

Forged internals would have been nice. Anything over 500 rwhp and the stock shortblock is on borrowed time. But I guess you gotta take the good with the bad.
