I love my magnaflow also. On my last car, it came with an SLP loudmouth. I bought headers & ORY for it and installed it. I figured I'd hate the sound, and it was worse than I imagined. Freaking loud, raspy, just sounded awful. I ordered a magnaflow the next day, and loved it.

Then you have not heard a Borla-Mouth, best sounding f-body catback I've heard. When I heard one I had to have one, and I've had stock, dual-dual, Borla, Loudmouth, and now Borla-Mouth on my SS. I've heard them all and had alot.

Also the Loudmouth weighs a fraction compared to any other catback out there. Its like 10-12lbs compared to my dual-dual 70lbs when I sold/shipped it. Plus the Borla-Mouth flows great, my SS did 551rwhp through the tips.

But to each their own.

Peace,
Craig.

Was there any gain when you switched from your dual/dual to borlamouth? I had no idea that they were so heavy. Which parts are from the borla system and which from the loudmouth?

I have no exact dyno number back to back to give you a number, I have not had dual-dual since I was stock 7 years, 3 cat-backs ago, and 80+ cubes ago..
The dual-dual flows great, just about as well as any other cat-back system.

Look at the pic I post earlier in this thread, or do a search for Borla-Mouth. Its a Loudmouth with a Borla XR1 in place of the Loudmouth's resonator. The Loudmouth/Borla-Mouth flows insane, there is ZERO restriction. The only thing that slows the airflow is the bends in the piping.

Peace,
Craig.

I don't remember where I got the info but from what I've seen the Magnaflows is one of the best flowing mufflers on the market. You can pick one up and look straight through it. I have a Maganaflow system on my H/C 2002 Z28 and love the way it sounds!! People always complement me on the way the car sounds.

Pretty cool, sounds like a Borla XR1:

I have the Pace LT with their crappy ory and the borla proxs muffler. It sounds really tame untill you get on it. It is much quieter than my old set up: stock manifolds with cats and single flowmaster. So quiet that im thinking of getting a e-cut out. But i love it.

The Magnaflow looks just like that inside but it doesn't have that mesh through the middle. It has the pipe down the middle with all the holes in it just like that one but in the core of the muffler there is stainless mesh that helps dampin that raspy sound our cars love to make..

I personally don't like the sound of Magnaflow. If the LM1 is too loud you may want to try LM2. If that's too loud then try to get your hands on a dual/dual catback.

*EDIT* 2,000 posts! Hooray for me

No way dude. Try a Borla XR1 if LM2 resonator is too loud. Don't get me wrong, dual-dual is great, but thats tossing around alot of coin. Plus alot of people seem to prefer the Borla XR1 over either LM1 or LM2 resonator. Just my $0.02

*Edit - He could always throw a y-pipe with cats on there. That with an XR1 would REALLY tone it down.

Peace,
Craig.

I guess I'm just not sure what his noise tolerance is.

And I guess I didn't make myself clear when I said to try all these exhausts .I meant he should listen to videos and sound clips, not buy all of them

lmao!

Very very easy to go to LM1 -> LM2 -> Borla-Mouth, its just pulling out the watermellon resonator....thats it!
But the dual-dual would be another mission. And you had a great tip for him to start checking out sound clips, that is the best idea for him right now.

Peace,
Craig.
