I think all Automatic LS1's did.

On the gear selector, it should have a like circle around the D.

All f-bodys have overdrive technically.
The fifth and sixth gears of a M6 tranny is considered to be double overdrive.

The reason i ask is I have no D with a circle, just the D. Also, while letting off the gas in drive it sounds like a manual winding down.

If you have the A4 and it is stock then yes you have OD. On the shifter there is D then 3 then 2 then 1. D is OD.

Ever since 82' the f-body has had overdrive.

I can't remember which is which but the Camaro has D-3-2-1 and the Firebird has (D)-D-2-1, or visa-versa. Same tranny in both, just numbering on the console is different.

Peace,
Craig.

I have seen some that don't show 1st gear. But you can still go down below 2 and it would be in first. Mine has (d) d 2 1.

Yours is NOT aftermarket. Look at the posts above ^ they state what you have exactly. And even if it were backwards it could be that the center console is from a Firebird. The ONLY "aftermarket" auto tranny used in our cars is either a TH350 (3 gears with no OD) or a Powerglide (2 gears again no OD).

Peace,
Craig.

The tranny shifts at 10mph then about 20mph is that typical? This is under normal driving load. Havent had a chance to watch it under heavy load.

If you're in doubt as to weather your trany is stock or not, the simplest way to figure out it you have o/d is to quite simpley count the number of times the car shifts.

Your rpms may tell the story too as long as they haven't been changed to anything supper low.

IE:
With my stock 3.23 gears 60mph would run around 1600-1700rpm.
With 3.73s, 60mph is more like 2100-ish.
But as I mentioned, gouing by rpms alone isn't very accurate.
