Default TCS

So tell me, what exactly is Traction control and when does it need to be turned off and/or on ?
Does the car need to be moving when you flip the switch to engage TCS?

T/C (or ASR on Camaros) is used really how the driver feels necessary. The car can be sitting still or moving when you switch it off. It is a system that uses sensors to detect wheel spin and the car will adjust various parameters (fuel delivery, timing, etc.) to get the condition corrected. You may even feel the gas pedal pushing against your foot from time to time. If you have it, I'd use it in the rain or during winter. Just remember to turn it off on the track! If you get tired of turning it off everytime you start up, there are modules available to default the system to "off" on startup instead of the factory default "on".

Exactly! I usually just turn mine off when I get in the car so I don't forget later when I might need a little bit of wheel spin.

Great ! Thx for the info.
I thought all the 4th Gen. F-Bodies have some sort of traction control.
Guess not ? (since you said "if you have it")
So it must have been a factory option ?

Yes it was. I have a 2002 and it was a $400+ option. What a waste of money for me since I never drive it in the rain or snow. But I got mine last August when a lot of dealerships weren't getting any more TA's in and didn't have the exterior/interior color I wanted so I had to buy one with traction control.
