Default water temp?

im in the middle of installing gages just needed to know where the brass water jacket plug is on 2001 ls1 so i can install the probe in the hole for the water temp gage.

What kind of gauge are you trying to install? ECT sensor is on the drivers side head, right by cyl #1. There's another port on the passenger side head in the same spot by cyl #8 with a plug in place of the sensor.

auto meter transmission temp # 4757 , its a short sweep electric gage.

Trans temp gauge is different from water temp gauge. Thought you were asking about water temp.

if you are askin about water temp,,remove the plug by plug #8, its a 8mm hex head, and install your temp sender there.

sorry lol i was talking about the water temp gage i got confused for a min. i'm trying to put 3 gages in just got mixed up!!

can i put the water temp probe where the ECT sensor is ?

I would put it where the plug is on the pass side. Hard as hell to get to, but getting rid of the factory sensor might mess w/ the ECU.
