You have 900 miles on it! Why are you trying stuff like that. Break it in man. Being that new it already had some metal in the issues in the oil. Give it time... Take it easy for the first 5000 miles at least...

You mechanically over-rev'd man, and I bet I know how you're holding your shift lever too... the only time you should be grabbing it like a pistol grip is 1st to 2nd. some people might think its lame, but gripping the shift lever correctly can prevent a lot of heartache.

btw, to my knowledge, the 'vette's ECU is a "tattle-tale." If something goes wrong with it, have fun getting them to cover it under warranty.
