Default MAF question again.

Howdy, I have a lightly modded 98 t/a. I've been running a GMAF and recently a couple people told me that it might be hurting more than helping. I've still got my stock maf with screen and all if need be. My question is, should i put the stock maf back on or keep the gmaf on?

If it helps my (minor) mods are... Free Ram Air, EGR delete, Whisper Lid, Holly powershot filter, no cats, 02 simms, cutout, borla(which ever i feel like using at the time), A4 with 3.42's. Thanks in advance. (yes i did a search, didn't find quite what i was looking for tho )

Get is dynoed or at least Autotapped to know what the a/f is. I had mine dynoed with a slp and was pig rich. Same thing with my pace vv when autotapped.

yea man i would say put tha stocker back on but my gmaf is fine, GET IT DYNOED with the stocker and with the other one good luck

You need to A-tap the car and check L-terms.If the L-terms are +'s then you are hurting the tranny since it drops line pressure and will slowly burn up the clutches.Thats why most A4 guy's recommend staying with the stock screened MA and add a MAFT to lean out WOT.

No problem for me. As for tranny pressure u can increase that electronicaly. I run 50% increase. Tunning (HPP3) for me + GMAF + BBK TB <NOT RICH>.

I have the GMAF and did dyno before and after. the after included the MAF and a lid. I went from 317 to 325 rwhp with those two mods. there was between 4-10 additional HP throughout the curve.

On my '98, I had a lot of pinging after installing the GMAF. Ended up going back to the stock MAF.

The irony is that the GMAF is supposed to come calibrated.
Then, it doesn't let tuners do their job once they try tuning the car to adjust.

He was pinging (Detonation). Tuning is needed to maybe retard. Tough to tell without knowing all his mods.
Also could have a flawed calibration on GMAF. In production this happens you know!

Thanks again for the responses. Think i may stick the stocker back on for now. What if i just use the ends from the GMAF but the stock sensors?? or is it the screen and big rudder thing i need...
