1LE Lighter?
The problem is, how many people actually have stripped down, no option, Z28s and Formulas? Not many. On the other hand, almost all the 1LEs you see have very few to no additional options. Mine had the rear defroster deleted, no rear floormats, no power accessories, etc.
So while the 1LE is a smidgen heavier, in real life almost all of them are lighter since most Z28 and Formula owners get options like power accessories, T tops, leather, CD players, etc.

I have a '98 Formula hardtop A4, with a cloth interior, the only option is has are the power windows, locks & mirrors.
How much lighter is this car than, say for example, a A4 Trans Am (i.e. leather, ground effects, spoiler, t-tops)?
Then, try and find a friend with a car optioned how your looking for, or try to find the info on this board
Also, check to see how much gas they had, as there can easily be over 100 lbs difference just in gas.J.
I'm sure there's gotta be someone who has weighed similar cars before.

My '99 is almost a 100% total stripper and it is not a 1LE. It has single CD Monsoon and the power steering cooler. Otherwise it has NADA as far as options. Ie: hardtop, no rear defrost, power nothing, cloth seats, no ASR, no foglights, etc. etc.
The car is probably 100-120 pounds lighter than fully loaded examples. When I first drove it, it actually felt lighter than others.

I think mine was down to 3190 with no gas. Had stock wheels on it, no back seat or spare or jack, no cats, lighter torque converter (A4 1LE
) headers are lighter, no front sway bar and ET Streets (lighter than steel belted radials).J.

I find that most of them lead pretty dysfunctional lives, however. Whoops, wrong kind, back to cars...

I just love the idea of a car with no excess bullshit on it. Better handling, little better braking, little quicker, and less electric/electronic crap that will eventually break and drive you crazy when you try to fix it.
