Default engines?

if i bought an "assembled" engine (something like this http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=46&catid=28 )what all is left to buy/how much is left to spend so that i can drop it in and run? (pertaining to the engine itself, assuming every tranny, etc. is taken care of)

That's a short block, you will need the following

Heads
Intake/Throttle Body
Cam
Injectors
etc..others will chime in

If you plan on building a motor and arent sure what is needed, then you might not want to be building a motor.

This is a very open-ended question.

To finish this motor, you can basically spend as cheap as hundreds or as much as thousands to do it right.

What are u building this motor for? N/A, boost, nitrous? etc.

The shortblock is the foundation of the motor, but its the top end that defines it.

not looking to go boosted right away. maybe off in the future, hence the iron block cuz i know they are better for boost, but im looking to make 430-500rwhp N/A with a good size cam. wont be a DD but will be a street car. im getting a bike soon and itll be a weekend car to race in or maybe the occasional drive to work. might spray but chances are not (if i did, direct port)

EDIT: not going cheap either, but not spending top dollar. just looking for a motor to smash the poopstangs running around town.

You need one of my killer 408's then! There i a little bit involved with doing a swap. You can buy a short block a long block but either way you need to think it through before you start ordering things.

If your interested in my help pm me and I can walk you through a few things to consider.
I'll provide you with some advice, you can get other opinions and then when you do buy you'll be much better informed as to what your buying.

It can be over whelming, I've been on the other side of the fence as a consumer for many years so I know what its like.. to have guys like me trying to sell you something

There are short blocks enhanced short blocks and long blocks and enhanced long blocks and then turn keys.
