Default ls6 intake install help

Reading up on ls1howto on the manifold install..it says i will need...
1x 2001+ LS1/LS6 intake
- 1x 2001+ front coolant pipe - #12568478
- 2x 2001+ rear coolant plugs - #12562788
Will i have to purchase these in order to install the intake? Or can i use what i already have from my ls1 manifold?

Always best to get new intake seals. They're relatively cheap.

the ls1 intake has coolant lines that run from the front of the block to the back and they run under the ls1 intake. the ls6 intake is deeper so the lines will be in the way. what im trying to say is yes you will need the new coolant lines and the plugs for the back. if you have egr on your car you will need to block it off also. all in all really easy which and worth the money. if you need anymore help feel free to email me. good luck.

You DO NOT have to buy the LS6 pipe and plugs. You can grind off the ribs on the bottom of the intake and flatten the LS1 coolant line under the intake. People have done it on this board and have had any problems. Try and search around for it, I know there are some pics

I just took the ribs off of the bottom of the intake like mentioned above, worked great and saved some $$$.

u can use a pair of pliers to break the ribs off or use a dremel or grinder.

I used a screw driver to remove the ribs, then just sanded the bottom where I removed the ribs smooth. Def easy to do just do a search, there's plenty of pics on the site.

Seriously, just take a chisel and hammer and tap the ribs off the bottom of the ls6 intake. It works perfectly, I have had 0 problems.

Depending on the condition of the old seals, they can be reused. But they are only $30 at the parts store and will save to the PITA of taking it back apart later.
