why is 00 grouped with 00-02 headers?
I've tried searching but still am not 100% sure.
Vendors sell 3 different types of LT headers.... 98-99, 00-02, and race style. Each have different part numbers...
Now I understand the race style has no AIR/EGR fittings, and the others do. But what I dont understand is why is the 00 grouped with the 01-02s and not with the 98-99s. In 01 the LS1's got the LS6 intake manifold which did not have EGR... all others 98-00 had EGR, right? To me it would make sense if there was 3 different headers, 98-00 (AIR/EGR) 01-02 (AIR, but no EGR) Race style (all years NO AIR/EGR). Im having a real hard time figuring out why the 00 falls in with the 01-02 even tho it has EGR... or am I wrong somewhere here?

Well here is one example: http://kooksheaders.com/category.php...amaro/Firebird
There you can see the 00 has its own type of header. I wonder if you are thinking of throttle bodies, because TB's are the same 98-99 and then 00-02 are the same.

Negative, not thinking TB's... look:
http://www.speedinc.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=Exhaust
hooker, flowtech, and pacesetter 98-99 and 00-02 are different item numbers.
same here (click drop down box):

I guess I should b specific and ask why the pacesetter onces are like that because thats the headers I am looking to buy.

To play it safe buy the air/egr ones unless you plan on taking it out. If your doing LTs chances are the ls6 intake is next. So maybe save a little longer and do it all at once. Good luck.

the reason they are different is the was the AIR bolts to the mainfolds is different for 98-99 than 00-02. some companies will only make 2 types of headers and the 01-02 people just have to deal with blocking off the EGR pipe since they don't have EGR. That is what I did when I had pacesetters on my firehawk. Now I ahve race style Kooks so no more of that.
