Default True Duals

I am in a huge debate with myself. I am on a budget that is fairly tight and have more things I want to do to the car than my budget will allow.

My big debate is to get an electric cutout and run a stock exhaust other than that OR to get a true dual setup. I like the cutout for the ease of being quiet on trips and such, but the trueduals will sound alot better. I am just unsure.

ALSO I DD this car so is there a true dual setup that I wont loose alot of ground clearence with?

i would say stay away from duals if you are on a budget, unless you can find a good shop to do it cheap, getting a GOOD set of duals can be expensive. i would put the money into headers a y and maybe a cut out... i dont think duals are worth it at all unless you have headers first. my .02 cents.

I dont think I am going to go for headers yet. I had a SS I did all bolt-ons to and it was fun but I dont have the money ATM. I want to get SFC and STB that I had on that car again and some wheels. Not to mention I need to replace the passenger taillight due to water damage. So my budget is stretched really really thin atm.

I cant say I have heard a cutout on there cars. Is it annoying sounding or really raspy? Or is it a good sound?

ive never heard a cut out in person, but i have driven my car with open headers and it was just obnoxiously loud. good, but very loud. think nascar haha. i have pacesetter LT's with a mufflex 3 in ORY with a magnaflow catback, so its all 3 inch. magnaflow is one of the quieter catbacks but with headers and no cats its loud as hell wide open but nice a quiet cruising, i'll get a sound clip. if you go to http://ls1sounds.com/ there are tons of sound clips, maybe you can find something you want.

honestly....if you're planning for more things down the road.

why not do it right the first time?

granted a cutout is $50 or so, you could have a pretty decent TD setup for $300

Why even bother with a STB? Waste of money IMO. If you cant afford what you want, save. Dont half *** something you will regret later.

i have installed TSP TD's / TSP Y pipe / borla exhaust / 2.5" TD's / e-cutout / and open headers so ive played around with different things. i liked how with the ms4 and 2.5" TD's sounded, sounded Verrrrry evil and deep like you wouldnt believe. but it got annoying being on the freeway with a stall and going 60 mph. it just gets annoying loud fast. then ive been in the borla setup with Ypipe and open restrictor plate, sounds very nice at wot and mellowed out in cruising speeds. you could put the ecut out where the restrictor goes to adjust on the fly how loud you want the borla. then ive done the ecut out on the i pipe and its loud.... like noise loud not quality loud lol it sounds like a tommygun almost. i only like that one cuss you can turn it off and be quiet and not give yourself a headache.

anyways. if your budget is thined out at this point you really should hold off on modding the car until you have extra money. also getting 3inch TDs is a waste on a stock car, the car dosnt fel as snappy as it did down low like before.

I wont be getting headers and more than likely will be going with a turbo setup in the end. Its not that I want to be cheap I just dont know if I want loud all the time or not. I know true duals would be nice but if I go single turbo it wouldnt be needed. I am leaning towards a cheap cutout for right now or a LM2.

BTW the last time on my ls1 car I have Hooker LT ORYP 3" then through a LM exhuast.......That was loud.

I remember in that car I hated it being that loud sometimes. Other times it made me chuckle with glee. At the same time, now I have a 2 yr old whos bedroom is right above the garage, so I was thinking with an e-cut I might be able to enjoy the sound and not wake her up in the morning. If I had my drothers I would have LT headers with a truedual setup, but I went N/A last time so this time it FI for me.

I live in an area with bad roads that are uneven and windy. Maybe it was the chasis on my last car but I could tell a HUGE difference. I waited a long time before I put that other one on my old car and I vowed it would be one of the first mods I ever do because of how much more enjoyable it was for me.

I took everything off from the y pipe back. Ran that for a while till i was able to get my longtubes and true duals. IMO I wouldnt get the true duals with stock headers and the cats still on it.

TDs aren't worth it w/o headers IMO (of course you'll see a gain but not it's true potential). Plus if you do a TD setup now and end up going LT's later you have to modify your exhaust system. I would research more into whether a turbo setup is something you want to do or not before you do any mods. If it is then build the car up around what you will need (or will be beneficial) for your intended setup. It'll save you alot of money rather than buying a mod, then having to replace it later down the road b/c it doesn't work with the turbo.

lol i did all the NA crap last year and then nitrous and blah then finally FI this year....it sucked having to basically put the car to stockish and start all over again but with a turbo to hang now.

if i was you i would just get a nice catback that you like how it sounds and just do that.... no cut outs or anything like that. you would be able to use the catback with the turbo setup as most kits stop the piping to the Ipipe

A lid and exhuast is all I am doing till I order a sc or turbo. Literally.

Reject-That was kind of the idea behind the cutout was I could run the turbo with factory exhuast and look totally stock and with it closed be quieter than stock, but open the cutout and have free flow for the turbo (maybe relocate it farther forward). I just dont want it to sound terrible in the interm. IDK someone just PM me about some trueduals they need rid of cheap, maybe it will make my buy some headers for now.......IDK!!!! I wish the market for these cars was the way it used to be with next to nothing to choose from, that made it easy to decide.
