Default Basic, probably dumb question

Decided to post this here, since it seems that all of the "n00b-type" questions belong here...

Looking at the pic below, I'm thinking that this is just a flexplate for an automatic-equipped vehicle, right? I believe that since I'll be using a T-56, I'll need to replace this piece with a flywheel, & won't this anymore, but I'd feel better if I could get that confirmed.

(Sorry guys, but I just haven't done much at all with anything related to transmissions...)

It looks like I'll need to remove it either way so that I can align the oil pan correctly, but I'd like to know for sure whether or not I'll need to re-install it... Thanks.

Werd. I dont know about that aligning oil pan but that is exactly correct on what wording you used and what you thought you should use.

Well, I've tried to research everything I could about this before starting my swap, & this photo caption is what had me concerned about that... I don't know if it really has to be that precise, but I figure 'better safe than sorry'.

Thanks again guys.

wow thats interesting, and also a very easy fix, just leave the oil pan bolts a tad loose, tighten the tranny to oil pan bolts, then tighten the oil pan, that is actually better than a straigt edge in case the tranny is not perfect either.
