Default Worth switching A4 to M6??

I have a 2002 Trans Am WS6 automatic slp headers with cats and loudmouth cat back. Next upgrade will be in a few months which will be stage 3 heads and cam kooks longtubes with cats and a torque converter. I was wondering if it would be worth switching over to a 6 six speed for the time and money?

What do you want to do with the car? Dragracer? Corner craver? cruiser?

I have a stalled auto but i wish i had a 6spd. I miss banging gears. The stalled auto is fun tho and it hauls ***. Id say if the trans goes out or starts slipping, just throw in a t-56 and be done.

This is my first auto car ever and I have been pondering the same question as you have. My buddy has a ss4000. I'm not that impressed with it. I might wait till my tranny goes out and decide which way I want to go

i am going to do this mod later on after i completely trash my auto but i want to do it just for the extra gears and the fun of slamming the gears plus the sound when you switch.

I've read threads on this and what it takes to install it. It sounds like a hell of a lot of work..IMO not worth it..Just sell the car and buy an M6.. But then again,if you have tons of mod's already,Arg..

If it's just a cruiser, I say leave it in...its easier on the starts and stops, its not as fun or engaging, but its a lot smoother...and if you're gonna do some stoplight fun, you never have to worry about missing a shift with an A4

I'm one of the few who has done it. I was bored with the A4 and needed to buy a stall, so I was looking for a TC, bottom line for like 1200 I got everything and due to my daily dying I had to make the swap in a weekend. I was so happy. My LT1 took to the mod super well and I added 4.11s Point is I did it all but I had all the parts and did lots of reading. Oh I did convert to a nice red 'push to start button' Now I just put in the key and hit the button.

When I went looking for an ls1, I wanted an A4, this is the daily and I love it but when I want to bang gears I can too.

Worth it yes, if you do it yourself. Read read....no fear, just gather all the parts. oh and look for a 6sp center console....

tho I think M6 is way more fun then A4, I wouldnt bother with a swap. Just mod the auto trans, or sell and buy a M6.

depends if you want to win races, or worry about having fun shifting gears. a built auto w/ a stall is damn hard to beat! plus having an auto is a lot better on your rear end also.
