Default my goal need some help

Have a 99 z28 auto with moser 9" 4.11 gears, ls6 intake, no ac and slp lid. My goal is to run 10's on motor. On list to buy: patriot stage 2 ls6 heads, cam with between 228 to 236 dur., turbo 400 or powerglide with 3500 stall, longtubes with true duals bmr body mount torque arm, 346 forged internals. I want to go carbureted with vic jr. and msd setup that plugs into existing ign. Reason being is that I'm old school and tuning would be much easier. What issues will I face such as fuel pickup in tank, wiring and such. Just want to be different. Did this with my 91 mustang and went 11.02@ 125. Thanks

Thumbs down

i would go with the edelbrock rpm air-gap intake...as far as the fuel pump i would think it would still work but you would need a pressure regulator installed somewhere in the line...when you ask about wiring i assume you mean for the ignition and distributor? if you go with an msd usually you just need to feed it a 12v wire and a wire for the tach...sounds like a solid car! good luck!

You will need MUCH better heads for sure to hit 10's on motor. 11's are pretty easy on a 346 but 10's take more work. Coming from Gen I stuff I think carbs are a PIA and a lot less forgiving than a fuel injected PCM motor. Carbs definitely have their place on the really high HP motors though. You will need a bigger cam and stall too. 450rwhp+ with a dead hook wiil put you in the 10.9's or so.

All this assuming full weight.

lost some weight, 200 lbs. What heads would you recommend? afr 205 or 225's? It will have suspension k member coilovers and such. Will retain radio and power windows.

There are a few heads that can get get you there with not much problem with the right supporting mods. TFS are my first choice ( call Vengeance racing and you are there) but AFR, ETP, World products (not much on here) can all do it easily. Cartek does it on stock castings as do a few others but you won't do it on Patriots easily. SEARCH and talk to the guys in your local fbody / car clubs to see what is hot.

Take the pump out of the tank and run a electric Holley Black Race pump with a regulator.
