lower radiator hose where it connects to the block is the housing for the thermostat. Drain the radiator, undo the hose, unbolt the thermostat housing thats held on with two bolts (I think its two) and change the thermostat.

Unless you know it's bad, I recommend leaving it
alone. An aftermarket "180" is equal to what you've
already got, and a "160" only makes the low, lower
without helping the real problem which is the high-
side swing of coolant temp. That wants fans and
fins, the 'stat is not the problem there.
