whats the defference between the t-56 out of a 93-97 and a t-56 out of a 98-02

The clutch hydraulics are different as well. The LT1 has the slave cylinder on the side of the bellhousing, whereas the LS1 has it inside the bellhousing, and it's a different setup. Think "Push" vs. "Pull", one pushes on the clutch fork, one pulls on it.

The 1993 is actually called the M29.. it has different Gear Ratios, they are just a little bit lower. The new T6060 in the Pontiac G8's, and new Vette's have similar ratios.

The LT1 uses the external Slave like mentioned above.. that one pushes the Fork to take the pressure off of the Pressure Plate Fingers to dis-engage it.
The LS1 uses the Shaft-mounted slave and it pushes on the fingers of the Pressure Plate to dis-engage it.
