Can I tell if a car is a SS or Z28 from looking at the Vin? My buddy in the Air Force is coming home this month and is looking for a F-Body. I found one in my local town but its got an SS wing, hood, and badges. The floor mats also say SS and it has an SS badge on the dash. Very clean car for the price. When I did an auto check on the Vin it showed up as a Z28 but still dont know if it is a true SS. Some help would be awesome, Thanks!

look on the sticker on the drivers door for the wu8 code. if it has that then it is a real ss. all ss's are z28's also, they started out as z28's from gm and then went to slp. good luck on your find for your buddy.

Then VIN WILL show up as a Z28.


Either look for the RPO code like stated above or call SLP and give them the VIN

yea i was wondering the same thing! i just didnt wana ask because people be actin like a dick wen u ask a question that seems dumb 2 them. but i have the wu8 code so im straight
