Default Differences in the TB bypass mod.

Hello everyone. I just got my 99 Z-28 two weeks ago and am wanting to get the cheap mods out of the way within the next month or so. After reading up a little on the "free" mods I've see two different ways for handling the TB bypass mod. Install University as well as LS1howto.com have it shown that you can just use a hose coupler. However, on the ls1.com site it shows the use of NPT adapters and unions. The first seems much easier but maybe not as reliable/leak resistant to me. Could anyone shed some light on this subject for me? Which method did you use?

I used www.installuniversity.com 's "coupler" method. It just means you have to buy a $15 part instead of chasing down parts at home depot...well worth it IMO.

BTW Welcome to the board

No kidding, plus get extra length and run it behind the throttle body. I can't believe people are buyin this things for 15 or more. The reason I say this because it looks ghetto to have a little hose goin across the belts. I almost bought the one BMR makes then I saw how it just hangs over the belts and could possibly grind. Doesnt look pretty, but thats just my .02 cents!

Why can't run just replace the entire hose? Are the connectors on the radiator and on the block different sizes?

Yea the are.. But he could do that. just get some clamps and tighten em up. Though I think it would be slightly more work. Even tho I still think whatever way you go, dont buy someones. Just make your own and save the money for beer or whatever But do consider running it behind the trottle body it looks much better.

I cut up a stock coolant crossover "spider" (the elongated "X" unit under the intake manifold that's replaced when you upgrade an LS1 intake to an LS6).. I cut a chunk about 9 inches long, and bent it into an L shape. My line runs along the top of the radiator, then makes a 90 degree bend to go straight into the coolant X-over pipe. Nowhere near the belts/pulleys, and it looks like it's meant to be that way.
