Correct, but not mid-low 11s, let alone 10s.

more rotating mass 9-inch, 12-bolt, s-60, can eat up anywhere from 10hp-20hp on the dyno.. my 12-bolt ate almost 13 rwhp on the dyno.

there is a bolt-on that can get you 150rwhp to 200rwhp and up to 200rwtq. that would put you at up to 500rwhp on a stock motor with 1 bolt-on. it is also well under $1K! the name of this wonderful invention is nitrous oxide. a 150hp shot is completely safe for a stock motor if it is done right and can possibly add up 200rwhp with the right bottle pressure. it is by far the best bolt-on and best bang for your buck!

I've had 2002 Z28's make very good rwhp on our Mustand MD1100SE dyno. One was a bolt on M6, headers, lid, catback, tune, make 365rwhp, an another A4 with headers, lid, catback, and tune make 358rwhp. Either of those on a DynoJet would be in the 370-380rwhp range.

Mine did 344/361 with just a lid and cat-back and some free mods. It also ran a 12.18@113 on a DR at 3500lbs and with 4.11s and LCAs. I should have left it SI to see what it would do with full bolt-ons and a tune.

Im at 360 now, I imagine with pullies, slp maf, e-water pump Id be around 380ish. In my opinion its pretty cheap power if you search high and low for your parts.

Very impressive numbers. Me with my converter unlocked and with a guy that i don't think did the run right came out with a whopping 313 . Track times are good though, so I'm happy. lol

I drive this car everyday 30 miles to and from work round trip.
A bolt on cars really only make good peak numbers. A full bolt on LS1 that makes 380 won't get the gas milage of a mild bolt, small cammed 370rwhp LS1, nor will it be as fast. The correct cam timing for given mods will vastly increase part throttle and mid range power. And that's where you spend most of the time.

Gearing also has a big impact on MPG as well and your stock 3.07 will work better with a car that makes gives up some top end for more low end power.

In the 1/8th mile, I've seen 8.2 @ 88 mph on a stock cam N/A "stripper" yet full bolt on automatic Camaro Z28.

Very impressive for even a stock cam, stock sounding 600 rpm idle with only something like a 200/200 duration @ about a .500/.500 lift, 117 LSA...

Pretty wicked compared to a small block with a radical sounding 230/230 cam, .550/.550 lift, 111 LSA.

But the LS1 car also gets a ton better gas mileage.
Full bolt on, big stall automatic LS1s can go mid-high 7s with full weight easily.

Here's a video of a 6 speed WS6 with less than $1000 in mods including tires.

That's by no means out of the ordinary.

For the most part manuals with the same mods are capable or running better times at the track. It might take the perfect launch, but it is always possible. Most of the time 6 speeds go slower just due to bad driving (or lack of experience), where as the auto is just point and shoot.

The difference with Civics is that they have no power so the manuals don't do stupid **** like V8 cars out of the hole. So even with a bad launch they won't be that far behind an equivalent auto but the extra power that they put down more than makes up for it on the big end.

My friend yesterday trapped 85-87 mph in the 1/8th mile yesterday as a full bolt-on 6-speed car. Pretty wicked for a car with just 4.11 gears and all the other free bolt-ons.

I'm definitely liking the way LS1 out-perform old Gen 1 small blocks in just about every aspect...

Why waste your $ on bolt on's when you can just get head and cam set up? A exhaust and intake is probably going to cost $700 before install. Its possible to get a head/cam set up for under $2k

My personal reason for keeping a stock cam and all interanals would be for longevity.

I dont think any aftermarket cam will not last to 200k, stock most likely will.

Who cares if the stock valvetrain can make it to 200,000 miles if you replace the valvetrain at 100,000 with aftermarket stuff. If you're fine with running a little slower as a full bolt on car, so be it. But that's the worst reason I've heard yet for not doing a cam.

Well, that's the only reason I have. Otherwise it is a great upgrade for the buck.

I just don't want to tear into my low miliage motor.

It's better do it now while the bottom end is still in good shape.

I know this is a 15 month old thread but I'm in the low-mid 8s @ 88-89 mph in the 1/8th mile. I'm so happy I bought this car... Makes me never want to go back to a small block...
