It is usually on the right side sitting on top of the Right rear fender. Take the panel off that you use to access the spare tire and look around. Little black box with a *** on it.....

That's where mine is. It's not down in the well where the tire is. It's up on the hump near the speaker.

What part of the security are you trying to bypass?

If it's just the key's "chip" you're looking for a connector under the steering wheel. Other than that, the BCM (body control module) is right behind the glove compartment.

The guys above are telling you where the shock sensor is. Not all are equipped with the shock sensor.

Yup, that is true.

Our shock sensor is not worth a crap anyway really. You car could be in a earth quake and it will not go off.

But to bypass the system, you would just bypass the VATS. The BCM does a lot more than just the alarm part.

How would you go about disabling the VATS? My buddies car automatically arms the alarm within a few mins of shutting the door. Then, every time you open the door the damn alarm sounds unless you hit the unlock button first. It's annoying as hell!

Brian, that's not VATS that's sounding the alarm. The car's manual should tell you how to not arm the alarm. There's a way to get into programming mode (pull radio fuse turn key on and off 3x in 5 sec). From there a bunch buttons can change BCM settings. But that's all in the owner's manual and I don't remember off the top of my head anyway.

VATS is the "chip" in GM keys. Disables your fuel injectors unless you're using the correct ignition key.

I just bypassed the VATS in the column. It never sets itself. It would suck if it did.

I disagree if someone farts too close to my car it sounds a warning, you just have to adjust the shock sensor.

Thanks, I don't think he has his owners manual, but I have mine so next time we have some time we'll mess with his car and see what happens.

Here's a good site on VATS/PassKey: http://sethirdgen.org/vats.htm .
And the key numbers are here: http://www.thirdgen.org/vats_passkey_system .

Security flashing means you don't have the correct resistance in your VATS bypass you made. You won't be able to try again for 4 minutes.
