Default Whats up with the Car Theft postings?

Over the years of watching LS1Tech I have always seen tons of car theft postings in the New Orleans section or people from this area posting about it in the lounge + other various sections.

What is up with this? Are there just tons of professional thieves, more population density = more crime, or what?

I visited the area recently and was scared as **** someone was gonna jack my ride. Stayed in Metairie and didn't end up having any issues but would appreciate any advice or not if it is safe to be bringing my G8 down there or any areas I should be avoiding.

Its mostly limited to the f-body that is targeted. Its theft system is pretty easily bypassed compared to other vehicles so it is why it is targeted more.

And its drive-train can be parted out very quickly for a couple of Gs.

pretty sad, isn't it? just a matter of time before whomever's behind this will be found stinking somewhere. i'm just sayin.... different note, you should be good with yours. always helps to have an aftermarket antitheft system on your ride.
