should i...now or later? I plan on a cam & putting a dry shot(100ish) on my camaro (DD), but where i'm currently at with the car is my Strange S60 will get ordered next week and i started thinking about dropping the fuel tank during the axle swap for two reasons
1. the original fuel pump is still in the tank(10 years old) its bound to fail soon and i dont like breaking down on the side of the road.
2. it would be a good idea to upgrade to a walbro pump? or no need for my planned mods.
so it boils down to should i just leave the original pump and wait for it to crap out then cut my floor to replace it to another stock?
or put the walbro cuz ill need it down the line with the mods and i have one less thing to worry about failing
the car wont see either of the mods for about 2-4 months

the little bit of money right now to replace the pump... to me its a no brainer to go ahead and replace it now. (i say little in comparison to if it fails on the bottle, or leaves you stranded) IMO

is the stocker more than capable to feed the motor during a 100 shot? at what point does it become obsolete?

With the cam and a 100 dry shot you're starting to creep into an area where you would need an upgraded fuel pump in the first place. Personally, I try to lean more in the direction of safety and I would upgrade the pump. Sure, a new fuel pump + install will likely hit you for the $350 - $500 range (depending on which product you choose and your shop's labor rate), however the peace of mind would be well worth it for me.
That being said, I'm sure there are plenty of cam-only guys out there with a 100 dry hit that haven't (YET) encountered any problems.

You're knocking on the door of the limit...not to mention that as your fuel pump gets older, it's limit slowly gets lower. If you don't do it, I won't feel sorry in the least if you go lean and damage your engine. It's cheap insurance.

If you're going to go ahead and upgrade... I would go ahead and mount 2 w255's in tank with steel braided line, and set up a return system with a decent regulator.. you can do all of this surprisingly cheap. dont know if i can post this but jegs has all you need for that.

yeah, a fuel pump isnt too hard to put in either, and if your gonna have the rearend out then you should do it... as for a twin setup,you will be fine with 1 walbro 255 fuel pump, unless you think your gonna go turbo one day there is no need for 2 and it will be cheaper to just do 1 pump...just my 2cents
