Will dry N2O sprayed before the IAT cause a probelem?
Just thinking about this. The IAT reads incoming air temp to help tune the car with timing and such, so I was wondering if cool nitrous passes in front of it, will it read incredibly cold and turn the timing up to far? Or does the computer make sense of this buy the imputs from the IAT and MAF together to tune for spark and fuel properly?
What would the differences be when spraying say in the stock 5177 kit location with the twin nozzles, vs one nossle downstream from the IAT right before the MAF somewhere?
Also, if spraying buy using the existing IAT hole in the lid, where is a good place to relocate the IAT so that it sees (or for that matter doesnt see?) the nitrous?
I have been wondering about this for ahwile now.
Thanks

From my experiance (and its limited) when the IAT reads cold it will richen the fuel mixture. I am not sure on the timing. When we use a dry system on EFI motorcycles in front of the IAT the fuel richens and the timing remains almost exactly the same when viewing with a scope. This was pulling 4th gear on a dyno. I also did some resistor tricking of various sensors and the TPS, MAP, and Gear position had the most effect on timing. I am curious to see how the LS1 reacts to the IAT going extremly cold. I have just shot Nitrous in the Air Filter and it seemed to have just a tad of detonation on the initial hit and then it was gone. When I bring the Nitrous in with a lower start percentage the detonation seems to last longer. Your post got me to thinking of how to view what was going on with timing. I really should just break down and buy HPTuners and then do some serious playing around. Well just my .02 worth.
I shoot 5177 on noids (no Jets) directly from the front of a FIPK with the IAT sensor right in front of the spray. NO leaning out on the engine part.
As usual I will point out that gas is 98 octane here and I run TR6's. Stock tune.
