Default Anyone have a part # for a non projected tip, tapered seat, NGK #9?

I've been running gasket style plugs (R5671A-9) all around in my heads b/c I have a helicoil in #1 and have to run a gaket plug in it, and my machine guy said it would be ok to run them all around so I didn't have to run different plugs, but i've been having a problem with #1 running way leaner than all the other cylinders, and i've been having to pull gobs and gobs of fuel out of the kit to try and lean out the other cylinders, i'm already under square with 5.25psi flowing fuel pressure and the car is still in the 9's a/f and the other 7 plugs are fat as hell, but #1 looks good on the fuel ring. So one of my buddies had a head off the car and put a tapered plug in and a gasket plug in and torqued 'em both down and said that the gasket plug in the tapered seat hole is sitting a lot further out of the combustion chamber than the tapered seat plug and that that could be why the other 7 are running so rich and to try putting a tapered seat plug back in those 7 and see what happens, but I haven't been able to find a part # for a tapered seat plug with a non projected tip, so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

They make indexing washers if you want to pull the plug out some.

Yeah, I was thinking about that if I couldn't find a non-projected tip tapered seat plug to put in the other holes I was gonna try the indexing washers to pull #1 out some.

That would be my guess as the rest sit further into the chamber. I know the BR7EF's are this way as they sit further out.

I really think i'm gonna have to try this, but I dunno how much, I ruled out that the gasket plugs on the tapered seat were sitting further out, I had a set of stock heads laying around and put a gasket plug in one hole and a tapered plug in the other and they both sat exactly the same, so it's definately something wrong with the helicoil cylinder. This is so ******* frustrating, I really don't want to pull the head off and have a shop tell me there's nothing wrong, every shop I call tells me the helicoil can't cause it, but i've ruled out everything else!!!! One guy on yellowbullet said that the helicoil being steel can cause it to hold more heat than the other cylinders instead of dissipating it into the head causing it to be hotter/leaner, but nobody wants to weld the plug hole up and redrill/tap it, everyone is saying it will warp the head, i'm starting to think i'm gonna have to get new heads and it's such a waste of money b/c there's not really a better head for a 3.9 bore than what I have, it flows with the best of 'em, so i'd probably end up gettin the same heads. But I guess i'll try pullin the plug out of the chamber a little with the indexing washers first and see if I can get this thing right.

Devon,

Take a look at the NGK plug I posted...it actually has less reach than most of the LS1 plugs. Its not a lot, but it might be enough to pull them out of the cylinders a tad.

PM me your email so I can email the list. I will try and post the list up here at some point but I need to have matt host it on our site.

All tapered seat plugs w/ non-projected tip.

This is exactly what I'm running ( except two steps 'hotter')

They don't sit as far into the chamber.
