Default First time spraying! (HSW Plate Kit)

Well, the weather was good yesterday at around 40 degrees (it's been around 10-20 for a week) so I finally decided I could somewhat safely try out the N2O. I don't have a bottle heater yet, so I turned my heat on full blast and put the bottle on the floor of the front passenger seat. I waited until it was between 1050 and 1100 psi and then hooked it up and my brother and I drove out to a good spot to test it.

The car is a 2002 Z28 M6 with a camonly setup making 400 rwhp with the nitrous tune and through the 12-bolt, 3.5 inch driveshaft, and 17x9 chrome wheels. It has run a best of 11.9 @ 117 mph on nittos, which is what I have on the car now. I've got the kit set up for a 100 shot. I have the window switch set to come on at 3200 rpm and shut off at 6000 rpm. Once I get more comfortable I'll probably bump it to around 6400 rpm since I shift around 6600 rpm and the rev limiter is at 7000 rpm.

I made a few na runs just to check the roads, and quickly decided that 1st and 2nd gear would probably be useless with the nitrous. I also spun then hard in 1st gear to clean the tires.

Since I've never hit it before I decided to play it safe and start in 4th gear. First hit at 70 mph in 4th and the car completely lost traction and I had to abort the run. My second hit was in 3rd and it was even worse with traction. My initial thought on the kit is that it was freaking useless due to having absolutely no traction Gotta love problems like that!

Next up I did a real good burnout and then hit it again in third at 60 mph. It spun initially but I stayed in it and it caught traction pulling like a bat out of hell. The top of 4th came real fast. I made about 3 more 3rd-4th gear pulls and every time the car spun initially before pulling like crazy. I definitely want to up the window switch to 6400 rpm and then get some MT radials on the car in some good weather. If the car pulled that hard in 3rd and 4th then I can't wait to see 1st and 2nd with traction! After these pulls the bottle pressure was down to around 900 psi, so it doesn't drop as fast as I thought. I bet I could get 2 full passes with it in the street before needing to heat it up again.

Sometime in the coming months I'm going to get a couple runs with my brother (PewterScreaminMachine). To date our cars are almost dead even from a roll and they trap the same at the track. He's getting a cutout, so he might be a bit faster NA. We're gonna do a couple NA runs and then a couple runs with me spraying to see what kind of a difference there is. Then we're gonna run in a marked 1/4 mile where he'll be on MT ET Streets and I'll see if I can catch him. Judging from my lack of traction last night it's not looking good, but hopefully the MT radials will help that a bit.

Thanks to HSW for putting together a badass kit. Now I might have to look at their LT1 kit, lol.

I definitely want to try it, but I'm just worried about being on the stock fuel pump, and I might need a couple more degrees of timing pulled out first. I'd hate to get greedy and blow somthing up. It is VERY easy to change jets, lol.

glad to hear you enjoyed your first trip and the kit performed well. Need to get those drag radials so you really feel the car pull!

^Definitely! I'm a huge fan of the Nittos for daily driving, but they just aren't up to the task of taking the estimated 500 rwtq when the bottle hits

That was fun but pretty useless with the weather being around 40 or below last night and the cold roads on Nittos. I can't wait to feel it with some ET Streets on it. That said, I can't wait to run em in the marked 1/4 and see if you can catch me by the end. Your car pulled HARD up top, but mine launches pretty nasty on those ET Streets I have.

Cobra2WS6, I'll try to get a couple pics of it. The wiring looks like crap because it was my first time installing a nitrous kit and I wasn't sure how everything was going to be run. I plan on redoing the wiring to make it look a bit neater. It had nothing to do with the kit, which was excellent, but was just due to my inexperience and rushing to finish.

I do have a BMR torque arm and rear lower control arms, so those should help a bit with the better tires. I doubt that I'll be able to really use it in 1st gear unless I get the better tires, do a big burnout, the roads are warm, and I roll out before hitting it. Either way it's a ton of fun.

I took my dad and then my other brother out in it yesterday. They were both suprised at how much faster the car feels with the nitrous, and my dad said that he doesn't like being the passenger and having no control in a car with that much power, lol.

Yeah I know how fun my first time turning the nitrous on was! It was warm so I did not have any problems hooking up.
The first time I sparyed mine we had a baby 40hp jet just to make sure everything was going to work, it did. So my buddy and I decide "Well that was fun lets put the 100 jet in now, if 40 was fun 100 should be really fun!
Now it is about 1AM when we were out doing this, am sure we pissed off all his neighbors lunching my Z down his road! Hit 2nd went full throttle, got a little bit of wheel spin and then it just pulled like MAD!
That was last summer, now we are going through my topend to make even more power and I am scarred that my 10 bolt is not going to like it, let alone with Drag Radials

^Gotta love stories like that! I'm definitely happy that I got the 12-bolt. I'm thinking I would have blown my 10-bolt to pieces long ago, lol.
