Shutting car off at the end of a pass

Shutting car off at the end of a pass I know you are supposed to shut the car off right after a pass in order to check plugs but how are you guys doing this? My car still has power steering and brakes and it seems kind of dangerous to shut the car off at that kind of MPH.
I just turn the key off and coast in. The whole point is that you want to minimize your idle time after the run. If you don't feel safe killing it on the track, then kill it once you get to a safe spot on the return road and get towed back.

You shut the car off so you can read the plugs exactly how they were at the time of the pass. If you idle on them after making your pass your reading won't be as good.
Yeah, my car has stock brakes and I have no problem getting stopped with the engine off. Your biggest problem will be getting turned onto the return road if you arent on skinnies but it can be done.
