Tuning for Nitrous? Questions
I understand I have to retard the timing 6 degrees. Where I get confused is,
some guys with the same set up run 29 degrees of timing or more. If im in the 23 25 range do I still have to retard the timing 6 degrees?? I would think not, Ive been wrong before.
My other question is
On the HSWs site it says the interface uses the IAT spark table to retard the timing. If thats so, Why cant I just change that part of the tune and be done with it?? If im running in the 23-25 degrees of timing area I should be fine with the TR6 plugs or am I missing something???
Thanks in advance!!!

What you need is a wideband so you can watch your A/F, then use your HP tuner to add timing until you start seeing knock, then back off 1* IMO. But your about where you need to be, you might be seeing knock 3-4* of timing, +1 for safety, 6* isnt bad for a 150 i dont think...
Also, doing the IAT mod does not pull any timing, its all in the setup on HPTuners
IAT mod DOES pull timing as i have verified by logging some runs with my buddys HPtuners....it just doesnt pull more than like 3* i beleive.
be verified by HP Tuners or the like, and or a pro tuner to be sure there is No knock!!!!
Thanks you! I hope this helps everyone understand this a little better.
I would like to see a chart with what timing to run with a certain shot.
IMHO I think just pulling 6* for a 150 shot is a bit vague, may even get people into trouble. I guess thats why Robert56 and others say get it tuned!
Thanks for the replies.
I would love to see HSWs, Robert56, Nitrous Dave, and others chime in on the bigger shots
Thanks again fellas
You can take the timing out through the HSW box by using the switches,
Most ls2 vettes run around 21-23 degrees total timing N/A.
Most F-bodies run around 25-28 degrees total timing N/A.
You should always get your car dailed in N/A first, then get it dialed in for the N20.
I hope this helps.
TR6 should be ok for your setup. If you want a little safer plug you could use a non-projected tip heat range 7.
