Default Octane question...

What octane is C16? Is it 116?

My stand alone will be done this weekend and I priced some, it was 88 bucks for 5 gallons.

So, what would be the advantage of running C16 in the stand alone VS 100 octane I can get for alot cheaper. Can someone give me some insight of running it and will it make more power so I can justify buying some?

Would you still pull the normal 2* per 50hp?

This is just a general rule of thumb, you may need to pull more/less as you go up this 50hp chart.

I think you should* be able to run a little more timing, but you need to be able to monitor knock, A/F, and i would want to watch fuel pressure as well...Also race gas eats up plugs, so be prepared to change them often.

You can always get a dedicated race cell, and only run the good stuff in the tank so its used only when you spray.

Yea, I just finished my fuel cell.. Im just trying to see if the timing would/should be adjusted if I run 100 in the tank and C16 in the fuel cell and if it would net more ponies.

I dont think C is oxygenated fuel, but Q is, that WOULD net you more power if you tune for it. But C & Q are different animals even with the 116 rating.

BADASS fuel cell BTW!! I'm still in the middle of putting my car backtogether, and stuff like this just tempts me to throw one in there! How did it cost and what did you buy pre-built/peice togther??

More pictures??

Yea, I know the C16 in leaded, but I read/heard it wont kill your 02's if you just run it in the stand alone as it mix's with whats in the tank.
Just trying to see what results others have had with a simialr set up.

Thats all the pics I have but thats pretty much it.

That isn't "normal". We've already discussed this.

You serious? It was like 4 days ago.

Pulling timing requires a starting point. If you're starting point is 30 you're gonna have a different end result that someone starting a 24.

2 is a minimum for every 50, if you're already starting on the low side. I believe you were doing a 150? You should start around 18 degrees total timing til you get your fuel right. Then add timing if needed.

Yea well.. My memory sux and I am not going back to read that thread because everyone was saying different ****.

For me, I have been pulling 4 degrees of timing for my 100 shot and thats thru 40-50 bottles and no melt downs. So, I would say thats pretty safe to start there. My question was if I run 100 octane in the tank and C16 in the stand alone do people run less timing to pick up some extra HP? If not, then whats the point of running it, thats what I am trying to find out.

And for the record, the one time I had the melt down (ran a 150 shot) with the plugs was due to either the Timing tuner not working (If I remember, Ray from nitro Daves and I had to get a hold of the guys that make the TT to fix the incorrect wireing that was posted)(had it set at 6* being pulled anyhow), I know I ran out of fuel at 100 shot and the NANO regulator was fucked and spiked up to 1400 psi.. So, I went back to where I started (the 100 shot) and thats where I am at now.

I always run 100 in the tank when racing and 91 while on the street. Ive had 0 problems on either of those octanes while spraying...
I was just trying to see what the advantage was to running C16, but seeing its 17 bucks a gallon I might as well just keep 100 octane in the stand alone and call it a day since I wont gain much.

what about just using premium with a couple cans of octane booster? is that the same principle?
